Die Cutting Department
Phoenix Associates has been die cutting for over 40 years. Die cutting is the process of cutting a specific shape or design out of materials like rubber, fiber, foil, cloth, paper, fiberboard, paperboard, plastics, pressure-sensitive adhesive, foam, and sheet metal. We have die cut all of those materials and more. Our die cutting methods typically require lower tooling costs than other die cutting methods. We have two press departments, a single hit press department and an automatic press department. Our tooling ranges from simple steel rule dies to complex tooling that can apply PSA, eject parts, and separate waste all at the same time. Tooling choices are usually determined by the volume of a project and the complexity of the parts.
In our single hit press department, we produce gaskets and seals that are too large to run in our automatic presses. We use these presses for prototypes and testing, new projects, and high volume jobs that require a larger press bed. We can build parts as big as 28” x 50”and we can dovetail cut parts if you need something larger. This department also has a few custom built machines to handle odd jobs that a normal press cannot.
In our automatic press department, we have a large group of high speed presses to process high volume orders. These presses can cut parts up to 16” x 16” sometimes larger with the proper tooling. These presses range from 10 ton to 110 ton, which allows us to cut almost any material that is available. Our presses in this department are strong enough to cut through solid rubber and precise enough to kiss-cut tiny parts with PSA.
